The American Bar Association started its annual National Celebration of Pro Bono week in October 2009 after the recession created an increasing need for free or discounted legal services.

Ever since the successful inaugural year, Bars across the country have followed suit and recognize the last full week of October as Celebrate Pro Bono week. This year’s National Celebration of Pro Bono week is October 26-31 and highlights the need for legal assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In support of this year's Celebrate Pro Bono Week, Gov. Henry McMaster signed an official proclamation to recognize the importance of pro bono work and the need to assist one of the state's most vulnerable populations.

  • Friday Blitz

    The Pro Bono Program and University of South Carolina School of Law are hosting a virtual SC Free Legal Answers blitz from 2-5 p.m. on FridayOct. 30, where volunteer attorneys and law students will answer questions posted by members of public online. Volunteers will be sent an email with sign-on information after registering. Masks are not required, but your favorite Halloween mask or costume is welcome! Sign up to participate.
