iCivics is a FREE web-based curriculum, which is the brainchild of retired United States Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

At iCivics.org  teachers can register for a free account to access over 100 downloadable, engaging lesson plans written by veteran teachers. iCivics curriculum units are arranged by topic and can be used just like a chapter or unit of a textbook. Each comprehensive unit has a blend of standards based lesson plans, video games and web quests, as well as additional resources such as the modules in the Drafting Board interactive essay builder. A suggested scope and sequence for iCivics materials can be found in each unit; however, resources can be mixed and matched to suit individual needs.

For students, iCivics.org offers 18 online engaging video games focused on understanding how federal, state and local governments work and on other aspects of civic education. The goal of iCivics.org is to empower students to make a difference in their community by providing them with the resources and understanding they need to make an impact through active civic participation.
