Task forces are appointed periodically to address areas of need and interest. Current task forces are listed below. Please contact the staff liaison for more information about these groups.

The Drone Task Force was recently formed to study the use of non-military unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in South Carolina. The task force will identify areas of concern and make recommendations on developing the law as necessary to: (1) improve coordination between federal and state government regarding UAV regulation, (2) encourage positive uses of UAVs, (3) prevent negative uses and (4) mitigate risks.

The Vulnerable Adult Task Force was formed to study how South Carolina can better care for its citizens who are considered vulnerable. Subcommittees have been appointed to look at legal, service, education and funding aspects and are seeking input outside the task force from those who have experience with the current vulnerable adult system.

The Guardian ad Litem Task Force was formed to study the state’s guardian ad litem system and propose changes to the current statute. Task force members are researching other states’ programs and considering training requirements, guidelines for GALs, implementation of a registry of trained GALs and a complaint process.
