There are so many ways to get involved with Pro Bono! If you see a way you would like to help, fill out the form here.

South Carolina Bar

South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Program - Volunteer Representation

The South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Program is a volunteer-based program that refers cases to volunteer attorneys. The applicants are screened for income eligibility, which is at or below 125 percent of the federal poverty level. If you are interested in taking a pro bono case, please email Betsy Goodale or submit this form.

Palmetto Volunteer Lawyer Project

The Palmetto Volunteer Lawyer Project is an online portal that provides lawyers with a fast and easy way to view available pro bono cases in their practice and geographical areas. Cases are placed on the portal by various organizations around the state that need pro bono legal assistance for their clients. In addition to the SC Bar Pro Bono Program, cases are posted on the website by South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (SCCADVASA) and its associated organizations across the state, Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services, Root & Rebound SC, and the Midlands Fatherhood Coalition. These organizations offer pro bono opportunities in various parts of the state and in different practice areas.

Go to www.scbar.org/pvlp. You will see "cards" with brief descriptions of the available cases and a map showing their location. You can search for opportunities by location (county), keywords (practice area), or partner organization. If you are interested in possibly assisting with a case, simply click on the "Interested?" icon on the card and provide your name, email address, telephone number, and bar number. You will receive an email response from the posting partner. If it is a case posted by the SC Bar Pro Bono Program, the response will include additional information about the case, including the name of the client and any adverse parties, so that you can decide if you wish to accept assignment of the case. By submitting an interest form, you are not committing to assignment of the case. If you determine after receiving the additional information that you will accept assignment of the case, you simply reply to the email and you will be provided with a packet of information to assist you in handling the case.  If you don't want to have to check the PVLP page to see if new opportunities are available, you can sign up for email notifications when opportunities matching your preferences are posted on the website. Simply click the "Notify Me" button, enter your email, and set your preferences.

You can hold a "blitz" at your firm or anywhere, or participate in one from your couch at home.
