‘Tis the season for giving, and the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division Voices Against Violence Committee has made it easy for you to give back to some of the most vulnerable in the Palmetto State. The Committee is hosting a virtual holiday drive now through Dec. 18 to benefit the Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center of South Carolina.
The Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) works directly with children who witness domestic violence, and its goal is to alleviate the stress and shock children experience following a violent incident by eliminating the traumatization that may occur during transition between agencies. The organization provides a safe environment for children to receive emergency intervention, therapeutic services, and emotional support all under one roof.
“The Voices Against Violence committee is launching this effort to assist the victims of domestic violence who often get left out of the conversation – children. We chose the Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center because of its mission to stand in the gap for children who witness and experience violence,” said Committee co-chair Teckla Henderson and Committee member Olivia Hassler.
Donating is easy – the Committee has created an Amazon Wishlist of items necessary for the DCAC to give its children a memorable holiday season. Select “Kimberly Snipes Gift Registry” as your delivery address at checkout, and all items will be delivered by the SC Bar.
“We hope the holiday season will inspire members of the Bar to help us deliver smiles and peace of mind to the children served by DCAC,” the duo said.
