March means Mock Trial madness is in full gear across South Carolina! Results from the virtual 2021-2022 South Carolina Bar High School Regional Mock Trial Competition held Feb. 25-26 are in. Congratulations to all students, teacher coaches and attorney coaches from 34 high schools who took part in the outstanding event. 

Twelve teams will advance to the 2022  State High School Mock Trial Competition held virtually March 10-12. They are the following: 

  • Conway Region: Winner Strom Thurmond High of Johnson and wild card teams Fort Mill High, Academic Magnet of North Charleston, Greenville Classical, and Chapin High. 
  • Greenville Region: Winner Carolina Forest High School of Myrtle Beach and wild card teams Nation Ford High of Fort Mill, and the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics of Hartsville. 
  •  Lexington Region: Winner Bob Jones Academy of Greenville and wild card teams Charleston School of the Arts, Greenville Senior High and Dutch Fork High of Irmo. Congrats to Heathwood Hall of Columbia for placing second in the region. The team is unable to compete at state finals due to a scheduling conflict. 

Kudos to Professionalism and Civility Award Recipients Strom Thurmond High, Greenwood High, and Charleston School of the Arts.

“Thanks to all the volunteers including the more than 163 judges, 46 attorney coaches, 51 teacher coaches and 26 room hosts who made this year’s regional competition possible for 34 teams impacting 456 students statewide on competition day and even more students that did not make it to competition day due to the continued impact of COVID,” said Cynthia H. Cothran, SC Bar Law Related Education Division director. “The Law Related Education Committee and Division appreciates everyone’s dedication, passion, enthusiasm, and time for this fabulous program we call, MOCK TRIAL!”
