Last week, volunteer attorneys and community partners joined forces to provide free estate planning services through two SC Bar Pro Bono Program Wills Clinics held in Charleston and Greenville. Together, the clinics served 31 clients and demonstrated the impact of pro bono service.
In Charleston, six attorneys, including Jared Elrod, Richard Farley, Shane Hursh, and staff attorneys from the Center for Heirs' Property, worked alongside Charleston School of Law students to assist 17 clients with their estate planning needs. In Greenville, volunteers Lawson Wetli, Rosemerry Felder-Commander, and Ava Cabe partnered with the Greenville County Human Relations Commission to serve 14 clients seeking wills and advanced planning documents.
These clinics reflect the strength of statewide partnerships and the generosity of our members who donate their time and expertise to help others. We are especially grateful to our partners, including two SC Bar Foundation co-grantees, whose collaboration helps expand access to legal services in communities across the state.
The SC Bar Pro Bono Program also extends its sincere appreciation to the South Carolina Bar Foundation for providing another year of funding support. The Foundation's continued investment makes it possible to connect volunteer attorneys with South Carolinians who need critical legal assistance, ensuring that access to justice remains a reality in communities from the coast to the Upstate.
