by Zack Ohanesian, SC Bar Pro Bono Program Manager
What a great day down in Georgetown County, where the Pro Bono Program was able to partner with the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity for a second straight year to provides free Estate Planning services for Habitat homeowners and members of the local community. This event continues to be a success and we look forward to working with Habitat in the future!
Thank to 5 wonderful volunteers – including a special shout out to my amazing mother – twenty people left with a more secure future for themselves and their loved ones. Liz Attias, Joel Hynes, Karolan Ohanesian, Kimberly Thompson, and Mark Watkins all took time from their busy practices to give back to their neighbors.
As the Pro Bono Program Manager, one of my favorite parts of these clinics is the moment the consultation is finished and the client has their executed documents in hand. You can see the relief and certainly feel the gratitude they have. This type of work matters and is made possible through the service of our members of the South Carolina Bar.
If you are looking for ways to get involved and use your legal degree to assist those of limited financial means, you can always navigate to the Pro Bono landing page on the SC Bar website. You’ll find our volunteer form, dedicated programming, and upcoming opportunities to serve. And as always, you can reach me by telephone at (803) 576-3795 or via email at zbo@scbar.org.
