Job Summary
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Personal Injury Attorney with 3-5 years of litigation experience to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in personal injury law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload from initial consultation through resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management
• Handle all aspects of personal injury cases including motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, premises liability, and product liability claims
• Conduct thorough case evaluations and provide strategic legal advice to clients
• Manage a caseload of active files with varying complexity levels
• Oversee case development from initial intake through settlement or trial
Client Relations
• Conduct initial client consultations and case assessments
• Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case status and developments
• Provide compassionate and professional client service throughout the legal process
• Explain complex legal concepts in understandable terms
Legal Practice
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents
• Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and expert witnesses
• Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel
• Prepare for and participate in mediation
• Prepare cases for trial and appear in court proceedings
• Work with medical experts, accident reconstruction specialists, and other professionals
Business Development
• Build and maintain relationships with referral sources, medical professionals, and community contacts
• Participate in networking events and professional organizations
• Contribute to firm marketing initiatives and thought leadership
Required Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in South Carolina
• 3-5 years of personal injury litigation experience
• Strong trial experience with proven courtroom skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Proficiency in legal research and case management software
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to understand medical records
• Spanish language fluency
• Membership in state and local bar associations as well as trial lawyer organizations
• Experience with alternative dispute resolution methods
