Associate Attorney (Experienced, 4–10 Years)

A Rare Senior Opportunity in a Respected 27-Year Practice

About the Firm

The Manning Law Firm, P.A. is a deeply rooted, stable Greenwood practice providing comprehensive estate planning, probate, elder law, and business services to individuals, families, and businesses throughout South Carolina. For 27 years, the boutique law firm has maintained strong revenues, loyal multi-generation clients, and consistent referrals. We build relationships, not just files.

The Firm is family-first and community-focused, striving to positively impact its clients, employees, and the Greenwood Community. We were honored as the 2003 Greenwood County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year, and the founder, Peter J. Manning, was recently inducted into the Greenwood County Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame for a lifetime of service to Greenwood.

You will join a practice with a solid foundation with an immediate and steady flow of work.

About the Community

Greenwood offers lake living, golf, festivals, an active Uptown District, and a welcoming community that genuinely cares about its people and local businesses. Located within a short drive of Greenville and Columbia, Greenwood combines access to urban amenities with a smaller-city, family-friendly lifestyle. The firm and the community allow for that elusive work/life balance.

About the Associate Position and Pathway Forward

The firm is seeking an experienced attorney who wants to build a long-term career in the Lakelands. This is a senior-level associate role working directly with the founder, who remains highly engaged in the practice and deeply invested in client service.

You can expect meaningful collaboration, regular communication, and close involvement in matters especially as you become familiar with the firm’s systems, preferences, and client relationships. You will receive consistent guidance and review, with increasing responsibility over time.

As trust builds, you will take on greater responsibility, independence, and autonomy, with room to run matters, shape solutions, and build the practice without micromanagement. The ultimate goal is for you to manage your cases, make decisions, and keep client matters moving forward, while the environment will remain collaborative, detail-focused, and structured.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Client representation and counseling,

• Client file management from intake through resolution,

• Drafting and analysis of legal documents,

• Probate court and administrative work,

• Professional collaboration with local attorneys, court personnel, financial advisors, CPAs, healthcare professionals, and fiduciaries,

• Local networking and relationship-building to help maintain and grow the firm’s longstanding reputation in the Lakelands.

What we’re looking for:

• J.D. from an accredited law school

• Active SC Bar license (in good standing) or ability to obtain it promptly

• 4–10 years of solid, transferable experience (estate/probate helpful but not required)

• Reliability, clear communication, and excellent client-service instincts

• Attention to detail, pride in accuracy, follow-through, and the delivery of high-quality work.

• A desire to build deep roots in a community and a long-term professional home

Bonus Skills:

Experience in estate planning/probate; business or transactional experience; financial, accounting, or tax fluency; experience working with wealth advisors or CPAs.
