Job Summary
Part-Time Paralegal – Estate Planning, Administration, & Litigation
Position Overview
The MacBean Law Firm, LLC is seeking a part-time paralegal to support our practice in estate planning, estate administration, and estate and trust litigation. This role combines substantive paralegal work with administrative responsibilities, offering an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to gain hands-on experience in probate and trust law.
The schedule will be determined collaboratively between the attorney and the successful candidate. Compensation will be hourly and commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Support
• Format and prepare estate planning documents.
• Draft cover letters to clients and courts.
• Prepare filings in estate administration matters.
• Assist with annual trust reports.
• Draft pleadings and manage discovery in estate and trust litigation cases.
Client & Attorney Support
• Answer incoming calls and return client calls.
• Manage attorney calendar, including scheduling client meetings and calls.
• Provide professional and timely communication with clients and court staff.
Administrative Duties
• Maintain inventory of office supplies and place orders as needed.
• Track firm expenses and assist with basic bookkeeping tasks.
• Support billing processes by helping send invoices and record payments.
Qualifications
• Education: Paralegal certificate or degree in Paralegal Studies preferred.
• Experience: No prior experience in estate planning or probate required; training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate commitment and willingness to learn.
• Skills:
o Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
o Professional demeanor when interacting with clients and courts.
Additional Information
• Position Type: Part-time
• Schedule: Flexible, to be determined with attorney
• Start Date: After January 1, 2026; flexible based on firm needs and candidate’s schedule
• Work Setting: In-person. The attorney works remotely on some days and expects the paralegal to be in the office to answer phones and assist clients who drop by. Some remote work flexibility may be agreed upon between the attorney and the successful candidate.
