Job Summary
Position Summary:
The City of Cayce is seeking a qualified and motivated attorney to serve as a Part-Time or PRN Municipal Prosecutor. This position offers a flexible, as-needed schedule with no set hours and is ideal for candidates seeking a part-time legal role in public service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the City of Cayce in Municipal Court as needed which may include coverage on:
- Thursdays at 2:30 PM
- Be available on an as-needed basis for preliminary hearings, pretrials, and jury trials, which may be scheduled any weekday, Monday through Friday.
- Provide timely legal assistance and guidance to Cayce police officers on criminal cases and procedures.
- Remain accessible via phone or email for consultations with law enforcement personnel and other attorneys.
- Collaborate with city officials and law enforcement to ensure effective prosecution of cases.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the South Carolina Bar.
- Experience in criminal prosecution, municipal law, or courtroom litigation preferred.
- Strong legal judgment, communication skills, and responsiveness.
- Valid driver’s license.

Work Schedule:
- No fixed weekly hours.
- Availability required for court coverage, scheduled legal proceedings, and responsive communication as needed.

Requirements
