About the Seminar
There is a loud knock on the door. The Court enters. Counsel and gallery are seated. The Chief Justice announces that the next case for oral argument is yours. This is your chance to speak directly with the judges who will decide your client’s case -- to answer their questions, gain their confidence, allay their concerns, and convince them that your position is correct. This is one of the most exciting moments in the life of an appellate advocate, and if you are properly prepared to present your case, the next 10 or 15 minutes can be enormously enjoyable and satisfying. If you are not ready, however, the experience can be agonizing and seemingly interminable. In this hour presentation Robert Stepp discusses some tips to help you prepare and deliver an excellent appellate argument.
