About the Program
This webcast will examine various acronyms often used in the real estate and title insurance industry, explain what they mean and discuss their applicability particular situations.
Gray Olive is Underwriting Counsel for the Southeast Regional Office of Investors Title Insurance Company. Graywas admitted to practice in 1975 and served a 4 year active duty tour in the Air Force as a judge advocate from 1976-1979. He entered private practice in 1980 where he was a partner in the firm of Holler, Dennis & Olive, focusing on residential and commercial real estate. In 1997, Gray became Special Counsel for McNair Law Firm, P. A. and CEO of Firm Title, Inc., its title insurance agency. He served in both capacities until July 2009 when he became a solo practitioner, practicing commercial and residential real estate. Gray joined Investors as underwriting counsel in December 2010.
Gray began his relationship with Investors Title in 1983 when he became an Investors agent. He was an exclusively Investors agent until he joined McNair, and he has remained an active Investors agent throughout his career.
Upon leaving active duty, Gray remained affiliated with the Air Force as a reserve judge advocate. He received the Harmon Award as Outstanding Air Force Reserve Judge Advocate in 1995. He served as Senior Reserve Advisor to the Commandant of the Air Force JAG School and Senior Reserve Advisor to the Staff Judge Advocate of Air Reserve Command, retiring in 2005 with the grade of Colonel. He has been awarded the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (4), the Air Force Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal (2), the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Air Force Reserve Medal and the Air Force Recognition Ribbon.
Gray is a member of the Real Estate Section of the South Carolina Bar and served as Director of the Palmetto Land Title Association for 11 consecutive years. He chaired PLTA’s Legislative Committee from 2005 to 2015 and is the 2009 recipient of the J. Lee McDonald Award for Outstanding Service. Gray is a frequent speaker on topics of title exams, title insurance, real estate closings, and underwriting.
