ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The practice of bankruptcy law, collections and other debtor/creditor matters can be tricky and fraught with peril. This seminar is intended to educate those attorneys who do not practice in this area about bankruptcy and debtor/creditor law so they can avoid mistakes and recognize when they are in need of additional assistance. This course will provide a basic understanding of bankruptcy law and concepts, an understanding of the common matters that will confront the non-bankruptcy practitioner, and a general idea of when they will need assistance.

The seminar will cover the most common areas of practice where a non-bankruptcy practitioner may encounter bankruptcy matters: divorce, collections and personal injury matters. Also, the seminar will cover issues related to other federal statutes including the FDCPA, RESPA and the CFPB, which are implicated in collection actions and can trip up the unwary professional.

This seminar is an intermediate level program.
