The SC Bar Diversity Spotlight Series recognizes members of the South Carolina legal community at the forefront in striving to increase diversity within the profession.

The current nomination period for the Diversity Spotlight Series is open. Please direct any questions or concerns to ksnipes@scbar.org.

The quarterly series will publicly recognize South Carolina attorneys, law firms or legal organizations that have implemented programs or practices that have impacted the Diversity Committee’s mission to promote diversity within the Bar. The  Committee will accept submissions for nominees that meet the following criteria:

• Submissions must be submitted (or endorsed) by two South Carolina licensed attorneys who are nominating a South Carolina attorney; a program or project being run by an attorney, law firm, non-profit legal organization, law school or other law-related organization in South Carolina.
• Submissions should only discuss work performed within the 12 months preceding the nomination.
• Submissions must describe evidence of measurable impact on the Committee’s mission to promote full and meaningful participation in the legal profession in South Carolina by people of diverse backgrounds.

Examples of diversity efforts that may meet the eligibility criteria include, but are not limited to, recruiting practices that have increased the diversity of your student body or workforce, mentoring programs designed to increase the retention of the diverse members within your organization, or diversity trainings/CLEs designed to help everyone better navigate a more diverse workforce.

The Diversity Committee will select one eligible nominee each quarter to recognize on the SC Bar’s website. If you are aware of any South Carolina attorney, program, organization or school that meets the eligibility criteria, please send your letters of nomination to Kimberly Snipes, 950 Taylor St., Columbia, SC 29201 or ksnipes@scbar.org.
