Job Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, the administrative assistant performs various legal assistant duties involving post-conviction relief and collateral review matters.

  • The administrative assistant prepares and processes legal documents; proofreads all correspondence and prepared documents; and scans and redacts legal documents.

  • The administrative assistant maintains and monitors the record system for assigned attorneys; maintains a calendar of filing deadlines; and composes and prepares replies to routine correspondence and other documents.

  • The administrative assistant assists with telephone receptionist duties for the post-conviction relief section.

  • The administrative assistant also performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s), Chief Deputy Attorney General, and/or Attorney General and must be able to work from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma and five years of clerical or administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The legal assistant must be well-organized, enjoy working in a collaborative environment, possess excellent time management skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal is preferred.
