The Department of Social Services is seeking an Attorney III.

We're looking for an enthusiastic Attorney III for our Pee Dee Region who is responsible for all phases of trial and appellate work of Child Support caseload in assigned counties.

The Attorney III negotiates complex settlement of Child Support cases with opposing counsel.

  • Prepares and monitors pleadings and preparation of cases for judicial hearings.
  • Represents out-of-state petitioners in reciprocal support suits and monitors outgoing UIFSA cases.
  • Responsible for trial of cases and appearance at Court or other judicial hearings.
  • Assists in coordinating at county level interrelationship between CSSD and Family Court personnel.
  • Handles appeals resulting from Child Support cases.

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA accredited law school and three (3) years experience as a Practicing Attorney.
  • Necessary Special Requirement: Must be a member of the SC BAR.

Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities. Ablitity to prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to train other employees. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures. Ability to type at a corrected rate of 35 words per minute.
