The Office of the Attorney General seeks an Assistant Attorney General (Attorney VI).

Job Responsibilities

Serves as the Assistant Attorney General over the public and legislative affairs area for the office. Provides legal advice to the State, State agencies and officials and represents the state and its interests in contested matters. Timely assigns, for review and recommendation, all requests coming to the Solicitor General Division to join amicus briefs and "sign on" letters. Handles miscellaneous matters as assigned by the Attorney General, Chief Attorney General, and/or Deputy Solicitor General or Solicitor General.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Juris Doctorate degree and seven years experience as a practicing attorney. Must have completed the 403 requirements and be a member in good standing of SC Bar. Must have documented federal appellate and federal trial experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Must have knowledge and ability to interpret laws of South Carolina/ Federal Court. Excellent written and oral communication, must be organized and be able to work independently in meeting deadlines. Some  travel will be required.
