COLUMBIA, S.C. (Feb. 1, 2017)—The SC Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) is sponsoring its 16th annual Cinderella Project, which provides gently worn formal, bridesmaid and prom dresses for young women who lack the financial resources to buy a gown for their high school prom. Participants will have the opportunity to “shop” for dresses, jewelry and shoes at no cost in Aiken on Feb. 18.

“As the Cinderella Project celebrates its very own Sweet Sixteen this year, we are so happy to have helped so many students get to the prom throughout the last 16 years,” said Sheila Bias, YLD’s Cinderella Project Committee Chair. “It has been our pleasure to provide so many students with the dress of their dreams and assist so many parents with the financial burdens of prom.”

The Aiken boutique will be on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Aiken Maxwell Law Firm (225 Chesterfield St. NW, Aiken 29801). Students from all area schools are invited to attend and must bring their student IDs.

“The best part about the boutique is seeing the students’ faces light up when they find that perfect dress,” said Bias. “It is also really rewarding to be able to ease the parents’ financial burdens by sending their children to prom for free.”
