COLUMBIA, S.C. (Dec. 28, 2016)—The SC Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) will host an adoption fair in Greenville on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to assist families considering adoption. The annual Families Forever Fair will be held at the Upstate Church located at 679 N. Harrison Bridge Rd., Simpsonville 29680.

The fair offers free information on adoption, including resource materials and one-on-one consultations. Attorneys, agencies and other vendors in children's services will be on hand to answer questions, provide helpful resources and encourage families to consider foster care and adoption.

“The decision to foster or adopt is potentially life changing,” said Jacqueline Bond Anthony, YLD Families Forever Committee Chair. “Many families have good intentions, but just don’t know where to start, and this fair is truly the best place to take that first step. Our goal is to help make the process less overwhelming by providing the resources that families need to start the process.”

Several brief adoption workshops will also be available during the fair, and foster parents can obtain recertification training hours for attending. Sessions include Adoption 101, Domestic Infant Adoption, DSS Adoption, International Adoption, Financing Options and a panel with parents of adopted children.

“I’m proud that the YLD is a part of this unique event,” said Anthony. “By working together, we can help raise awareness of adoption and foster care in South Carolina and find forever homes for every child.”

Registration for the fairs is not required; however, space in the sessions is limited, so attendees are encouraged to register online at www.scbar.org/adoption. The Families Forever Fair will also be in Charleston on Feb. 25 and in Columbia on April 1. For more information, call Kimberly Snipes at (803) 799-6653, ext. 135.
