The South Carolina Bar condemns the violence and other unlawful actions that occurred on Jan. 6, 2021 at the United States Capitol that interfered with the Congressional certification of the Electoral College vote.
As lawyers we are dedicated to safeguarding equal justice and the rule of law.
The South Carolina Bar Constitution provides, “The purposes of the Bar shall be to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of South Carolina; to protect, and maintain respect for, representative government…”
We will work tirelessly within our state and communities to uphold the Constitution and protect and maintain the utmost respect for representative government.
