Planning to Win: The Hunt for the Winning Story—Keys to Effective Trial Advocacy
This seminar will consist of two half days of exciting trial techniques and methods that deal with every major part of the case, from opening statements to expert witnesses, from direct and cross-examination to final argument. While this is going to be a dynamic, fast-paced program, there is always time for questions, and speaker Jim McElhaney is happy to have your raise hand at any time and share your questions and concerns. Like he says, “This program is for you.”
This course book is specially designed to be useful—both at the program and later. Each chapter deals with a discrete part of the trial. Each introduction sets the major focus—pointing out the difficulties to overcome, suggesting the kinds of approaches that are going to be effective, identifying some of the “big issues” to watch for. Next, each chapter has a lecture outline that serves as a guide for the discussion with room for you to take notes about ideas you find are particularly interesting or challenging. Finally, each chapter has a series of background readings to help round out each discussion and let you dig even further into the Keys to Effective Trial Advocacy.
