Focused Legal Topics for the Employment and Labor Law Practitioner
This year, the Employment and Labor Law Section will present three topics designed to inform and aid those whose practice is primarily concentrated in employment law.
C. Geoffrey Weirich, editor-in-chief of the Fourth Edition of Lindemann & Grossman, Employment Discrimination Law, will speak on the continuing impact of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. Additionally, Weirich will address pending legal initiatives emanating from the Obama administration.
Karen Gieselman will present an updated ethics discussion that was well received at the Section’s May 2009 CLE. Gieselman’s treatment of the ethical issues related to e-discovery, electronically stored information and other technology matters will be highly relevant to any practitioner who must occasionally come to grips with this ever present medium.
Lynette Barnes of the Charlotte District Office of the EEOC will provide unique insight into the Commission’s litigation strategies and direction. With the understanding that several federal agencies are to take a more aggressive role in enforcing employee rights, Barnes’ discussion will be very important to deciphering how the EEOC may approach a matter that could result in litigation against or on behalf of your client.
