Bob Jones Academy mock trial team finishes third at American Mock Trial Invitational

Columbia (May 27, 2009) -- The S.C. Bar Law Related Education (LRE) Division announces that the Bob Jones Academy Mock Trial Team finished third with a perfect 3-0 record in the Fourth Annual American Mock Trial Invitational held May 18-19 in New Brunswick, NJ. The team competed against 25 other teams from across the United States, Canada and South Korea.
Individual winners were Brendan Kelley, best witness; Valerie Myers, best attorney; and Jackie Olinger, best attorney. Other participating students were Annie Churdar, David Freeman, Jon Ludwig and Stephen Vogt. Attorney coach was Allen Fretwell. Teacher coaches were Michael Murphy and Jennifer Olinger.
Bob Jones Academy placed first runner up in the S.C. Bar state high school mock trial competition in March, qualifying the team for the American Mock Trial Invitational.
The South Carolina Bar’s LRE Division, which was developed to improve the ability of teachers to instruct law related education, has been a part of the Bar since 1976.
The South Carolina Bar, which has a membership of more than 13,000 lawyers, is dedicated to advancing justice, professionalism and understanding of the law.
