Torts & Insurance Practices Section Council
August 3, 2009
Minutes
The Torts & Insurance Practices Section met on August 3, 2009, via conference call. Participating members were Chairperson Rob Usry, Molly Hughes Cherry, Matt Elliott, Jason Imhoff, James Ledlie, Brown Parkinson, and Jay Ward. Representing the Bar was Katie Staden.
Chairperson Usry called the meeting to order.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the May 11, 2009, minutes and was passed by acclamation.
The next order of business was discussion of the 2009-10 Torts and Insurance Practices Section Goals. A motion was made and seconded to adopt the following goals, and was passed by acclamation.
1. Sponsor a seminar at the 2010 Bar Convention.
2. Continue to monitor legislation related to torts and insurance practices.
3. Continue to update members on Section-related activities and legislation through the Section list serve, website, and in E-Blast.
The next order of business was discussion of 2010 South Carolina Bar Convention. The six hour seminar will be scheduled to take place the afternoon of Friday, January 22, following the Civil Law Update and the morning of Saturday, January 23. The Council expressed interest in having a Council dinner the evening of Friday, January 22, 2010. Ms. Staden will make the arrangements and circulate the information to the Council.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
