Real Estate Practices Section Council Minutes
March 1, 2005
 
The Real Estate Practices Section Council met on March 1, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. via conference call. Participating members were Charles Hedgepath, Bill Higgins, Robert W. Lowman Jr. and Don Wildman.  Representing Bar staff was Tara Smith.
 
Chairperson Wildman called the meeting to order.
 
The first item of business was discussion on upcoming CLE seminars.  The Council expressed interest in hosting two seminars. The first seminar was to focus on commercial real estate practices, which Mr. Lowman volunteered to coordinate. The second seminar would address residential real estate practice issues, which Mr. Higgins volunteered to coordinate. Both volunteers were to recruit speakers and collect input on seminar topics. It was noted that Benton Williams had expressed an interest in speaking at the commercial real estate practices seminar.
 
Next, Ms. Smith reported that she received the following potential dates to host a seminar from CLE Director Terry Burnett, August 19th, September 30th, October 21st and October 28th. It was agreed by Council that one of the seminars would be scheduled for October 21st.  Ms. Smith was to research additional dates to conduct the second seminar.
 
In the next item of business, the Council moved to submit a request to the Bar’s Board of Governors to support H3069, to amend the Horizontal Property Regime Act in South Carolina. 
 
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
