Government Law Section

This Section furthers the improvement and development of legislation pertaining to state and local governments and seeks to simplify and improve administrative and judicial procedures in the field of government law. The Section also provides programs for lawyers who represent clients before government entities; works with related groups to sponsor or publicize programs of mutual interest; and sponsors an electronic mailing list for members. The Section plans to resume publication of its newsletter; work with related groups to cosponsor programs and materials; conduct a membership survey; and identify and address ethical aspects of governmental law practice.
 
Section Goals
Establish a periodic Government Law Section Newsletter through the Section listserv and post on the Bar Web site.
Evaluate whether to sponsor a Section CLE at the Bar Convention.
Continue to sponsor a mid-year meeting.
Explore sponsorship opportunities with various organizations.
Continue to survey Section membership for topics of interest for seminars and the newsletter as well as obtain information on various services the Section can provide to its members.


2010-2011 Nomination of Officers/Council Members

The following nominations have been made for the Government Law Section for the 2010-2011 Bar year in accordance with Article IV, Section 3 of the Section Bylaws. No later than February 15th preceding the annual meeting not less than ten members of the Section in good standing may file by registered mail with the Chairman of the Section a nominating petition, which may be in parts, duly signed, with the signatures and printed names and addresses, making nominations for one or more of the offices of Chair-Elect, Vice Chair, Secretary, such Council members as are due to be elected, and, in even numbered years, the Section Delegate to the House of Delegates. All such petitions shall be accompanied with the written consent of any person so nominated. Nominations shall be considered closed on February 16th of each year.
