Environment and Natural Resources Section

Section Goals

• Conduct a Section CLE, Section meeting and reception in conjunction with the Bar Convention.
• Provide program support to the South Carolina Administrative and Regulatory Law Association (SCAARLA) at its annual fall seminar.
• Continue to improve communications between the South Carolina Bar Environment & Natural Resources Section and the ABA Section of Environment, Energy & Resources in order to elevate the profile of the South Carolina Section within the ABA and to actively share information with the Section members on resources available through the ABA.
• Publicize and continue to improve the Section Web site including useful information on Section membership, activities, legislation, frequently asked questions and links to legal resources.
• Evaluate an additional Environment & Natural Resources Section seminar.
• Work with other S.C. Bar Committees and Sections to develop an advance sheet system for the ALC.

ABA accepting award nominations
The ABA Section of Environment, Energy and Resources is inviting nominations for two awards:

The State or Local Bar Environment, Energy, and Resources Program of the Year Award will be given in recognition of the best CLE program or public service project of the year focused on issues in the field of environmental, energy or natural resources law. The program or project must have occurred during the 2009 calendar year. Nominees are likely to be state or local bar sections or committees focused on environmental, energy and natural resources issues. Nominations are due by April 23.

The Section also invites nominations for the 2010 ABA Award for Excellence in Environmental, Energy and Resources Stewardship. Nominees must be people, entities or organizations that have made significant accomplishments or demonstrated recognized leadership in the areas of sustainable development, energy, environmental or resources stewardship. Nominations are due by June 11.

2010-2011 Section Council Nominations
The following nominations have been made and approved by the Environment & Natural Resources Section Council.  In accordance with Article VII, Section 2 of the Section bylaws. Not later than the following April 15, ten (10) or more members of the Section who are in good standing may file by registered mail with the Chair a nominating petition, containing signatures and printed names and addresses, and making additional nominations for one or more of the offices to be elected. Such petitions must be accompanied by the written consent of any person nominated. Nominations will be closed on April 16.

The directory includes an alphabetical listing of Section members, general information on The Southeastern Environmental Law Journal and South Carolina environmental helplines.
