About the Seminar
This seminar presents a unique opportunity to get a comprehensive analysis of South Carolina state and municipal tax issues and is geared to tax attorneys, CPAs and other tax advisors in public, private and “in house” practice.

Our distinguished faculty includes tax attorneys, CPAs and the Director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue. This seminar also features the brand new 2009 supplement to the Second Edition of South Carolina Taxation and Economic Tax Incentives, by seminar Course Planner John C. von Lehe, Jr. and Jennifer W. Davis.

Seminar topics include:
State Tax Procedure:
Department of Revenue Director Ray Stevens will present a practical and authoritative look at current issues of concern to the South Carolina Department of Revenue or certain property tax matters to local county officials.

State of South Carolina Individual and Corporate Income Taxes:
With an emphasis on the differences in South Carolina taxation and federal taxation, this segment includes a discussion on allocation and apportionment of income taxes for multi-state entities and the question of when they are taxable in South Carolina and other jurisdictions.

Sales and Use Taxes:
This will include an extensive analysis of the application of and exemptions from this tax particularly as it applies to manufacturers and other businesses.

Property Taxes and Fee-in-Lieu of Property Taxes:
This in-depth discussion of the property tax system and the exemptions it affords will be covered along with the availability and applicability of the fee-in-lieu system-the primary vehicle for rewarding capital formation in the property tax area.

Municipal License Tax:
Jennifer W. Davis will present an update on the municipal business license tax.

Economic Tax Incentives:
The various tax credits which are available to business which increase jobs and investment will be discussed including jobs tax credits, jobs development credits, economic impact zone credits, corporate headquarters credits along with less familiar and easy to miss credit opportunities.
