Minutes February 2013

The Environment & Natural Resources Section Council met this date via conference call. Participating members included Sara P. Bazemore, Michael J. Bogle, J. Blan Holman, IV, R. Cody Lenhardt, Jr., Randolph R. Lowell and Thomas M. Shelley. Representing Bar staff was Tara G. Caine.

Ms. Caine called the meeting to order.

The first item of business was approval of the minutes from the August 7, 2012, meeting. Ms. Bazemore moved approval of the minutes. Mr. Lenhardt seconded the motion, and it was approved.

The next item of business was an overview of the 2013 Bar Convention. Ms. Caine stated that the evaluation summaries were to be distributed next month. Mr. Lenhardt provided a brief summary of the Section seminar. He stated that the seminar was very educational and that he received positive feedback from the attendees. The Council thanked him for coordinating the event.

Next, Ms. Caine announced that the FY2013-2014 proposed slate was distributed to the Section. Members had until April 15th to petition the slate. The proposed slate was as follows:

Ms. Caine announced that the Section Annual Report was distributed in December of 2012. She welcomed a volunteer to coordinate the 2013 report. Further discussion was tabled until the next Council meeting.

Next was discussion on legislative issues. Ms. Caine announced that a list of pre-filed and newly filed bills relevant to the Section was distributed to members. Mr. Lenhardt expressed interest in monitoring reports from the Blue Ribbon Committee on Shoreline Management.

In closing was discussion on the Section Membership Directory. Ms. Caine was to prepare a draft of the directory and distribute to the Council for review. The directory was to be completed by the summer.
