Ask-A-Lawyer: Young lawyers to take public questions April 30-May 5 in observance of Law Week

COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 16, 2012) – In observance of Community Law Week, the S.C. Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) is holding special Ask-A-Lawyer events to coordinate volunteer lawyers in a regional effort to assist the public with its legal questions.
Television phone banks, staffed by S.C. Bar YLD volunteer attorneys, will air on the following evening news programs to encourage the public to call in with questions:
· April 30: WLTX Columbia, 5 to 7:30 p.m.
· May 1: WCBD Charleston, 5 to 6:45 p.m.
· May 2: WBTW Myrtle Beach, 5 to 7 p.m.
· May 3: WSPA, 7 On Your Side Spartanburg, 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Lawyers will also respond to questions via Web chat. Watch the broadcast beginning at 5 p.m. for the number to call, or chat with an attorney online by visiting www.scbar.org/aal.
Community Law Week is held each year during the first week of May and is designed to promote the legal profession and provide the public with information about its legal rights through public service. Other Community Law Week events include a canned food drive, Speakers in Schools events and Cocky’s Reading Express, a program designed to promote reading throughout the state’s elementary schools.
