PMAP Practice Pointer
Are you using a free e-mail account to communicate with clients? At least 1,652 S.C. lawyers have registered a free Gmail account in AIS as their primary e-mail address. Under the terms of service for free Gmail, the account user grants to Google a license in his or her e-mail content. While Google has expressly stated that they don’t review your e-mail, Google is automatically word-searching content for advertising purposes. If you really like web-based e-mail, there are several inexpensive paid options, including Google Apps for Business, which starts at only $5 per user, per month, and includes a service agreement indicating that Google takes no license in your e-mail communications. Contact PMAP for free assistance with your law practice at email@example.com.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month
You heard the statistic last week: South Carolina ranks number one in the nation for the number of women killed by men. This month, the Bar Foundation will sit down with grantees who work tirelessly to help women and children trapped in violent situations. Follow the Foundation blog to hear what grantees have to say and listen to the stories of women who triumphed over their abusers. Then, make a gift to the Foundation. Your support allows us to provide aid to grantees whose work is changing the lives of women each day.
Mentoring opportunity through Spur Connections
The University of South Carolina Career Center is encouraging attorneys to get involved with Spur Connections, its mentor program that provides a way for USC students and alumni to connect with practitioners in various professions. Your participation in activities such as e-mail networking, information interviewing and job shadowing will help students and alumni clarify their career goals and prepare for their futures. Learn how to get involved on the Spur Connections website.
