FRIDAY, JUNE 1: Last day to update your information for the Lawyers Desk Book
Production of the 2012-13 Lawyers Desk Book is underway, and address changes must be made by Friday, June 1, to be included in the new edition. All changes in contact information are handled by the S.C. Attorney Information System (AIS) exclusively, and you must log on to AIS (www.sccourts.org/ais) to update your information. For help logging on, e-mail
aissupport@sccourts.org or call 1-855-235-2500. Complete contact information will be published for all Bar members, to include name, organization, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address.

If you have not entered your fax number in AIS, the Bar does not have it on file. While AIS does not require fax numbers, you must enter one if you would like it to appear in the Lawyers Desk Book. In order to ensure your zip code matches the address published, please do not enter two addresses (P.O. Box and Street) in a single address field. Please review your information carefully, as it will be published as entered in AIS.

Malware protection. The word malware is short for malicious software. Malware is any software program designed to damage your computer and can also be designed to gather information stored on your computer. Viruses, worms, Trojan horses and spyware are a few examples.
Malwarebytes offers a free download of its program designed to detect and remove malware from your computer. Microsoft Security Essentials also offers free malware protection that you can download here. PMAP is free practice management advice for Bar members. Advance Sheet update
May 30, 2012
In this appeal from a family court order, the S.C. Court of Appeals reversed and remanded the case. The court found that the family court’s order to award full custody of one of the sons to the father lacked any factual findings to support “a substantial change in circumstances affecting the welfare of the child” as required for such a custody change. The court also found error in the family court’s emphasis on the son’s living preference and in the characterization of the mother’s actions as “excessive corporal punishment.”
