The South Carolina Lawyer magazine is seeking authors to write articles that appeal to a broad range of lawyers. If you are interested in writing an article, view the Memorandum for Authors and submit a proposal to Authors may receive two MCLE credit hours for articles that are at least 2000 words in length.

Request for comments on proposed amendment to S.C. Appellate Court Rules
The Commission on Lawyer Conduct requested the S.C. Supreme Court consider adopting the ABA Model Court Rule on the Provision of Legal Services Following Determination of a Major Disaster with minor changes. The proposed language and a recommended amendment to the comments to Rule 5.5 of the Rules of Professional Conduct contained in Rule 407, SCACR, can be found
online. Persons desiring to submit written comments may do so by filing an original and seven copies of their written comments with the Court. The written comments should be sent to the Hon. Daniel E. Shearouse, Clerk of Court, Supreme Court of South Carolina, P.O. Box 11330, Columbia, SC 29211. Comments must be received by May 16. Additionally, the Court requests that an electronic version of the comments be e-mailed to by that same date.

Travel to London with the Senior Lawyers Division and stay at a first-class hotel in Kensington! See St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and Temple church, and visit Old Bailey and the Inns of Court. Enjoy a full-day excursion to Oxford and Cambridge, then cruise the Thames to Greenwich where you'll shop, sightsee and pub hop before returning to the hotel in first-class seats on British Rail. Local guides are provided, but plenty of time is available to explore on your own. The trip is open to senior lawyers and a companion. Thirty travelers can be accommodated, and reservations will be taken on a first-come, first served basis. The deadline to sign up is May 30.
