Ask-A-Lawyer phone banks scheduled for Law Week

COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 24, 2013) – In observance of Community Law Week, the S.C. Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) is holding three special Ask-A-Lawyer events to coordinate volunteer lawyers in a regional effort to assist the public with its legal questions.

Television phone banks, staffed by S.C. Bar YLD volunteer attorneys, will air on the WLTX Columbia, WBTW Myrtle Beach and WCBD Charleston nightly newscasts. Lawyers will also respond to questions via Web chat on the Bar's website. The schedule is as follows:

April 29
WLTX (Columbia), 5-7:30 p.m.

May 1
WBTW (Myrtle Beach), 5-7 p.m.

May 2
WCBD News 2 (Charleston), 5-7 p.m.

Community Law Week is sponsored by the S.C. Bar YLD and takes place during the first week of May each year. During this time, community service projects are planned in each judicial circuit throughout the state, which are designed to promote public service among the legal profession and provide the public with information about its legal rights. Other Community Law Week events include a blood drive, Cocky’s Reading Express events and a canned food drive.

The YLD includes all members of the S.C. Bar under age 36 and those with less than five years membership.
