Free Counseling Services
The holiday season is upon us, and this time can be particularly difficult for those suffering from depression. Are you or a fellow attorney in need of counseling for mental health-related issues? We do that—so please do not wait another day to pick up the phone. LifeFocus Counseling Services provides up to five free hours of intervention counseling for Bar members experiencing emotional or stress-related issues. Lawyers using the service will remain completely anonymous. Call LifeFocus toll-free at (866) 726-5252 to be referred to a counselor 24 hours a day. The Lawyers Helping Lawyers Program is also available to help lawyers suffering from substance abuse or depression. Call the confidential, toll-free helpline at (866) 545-9590.
S.C. Bar sponsored substance abuse and mental health ethics seminars
Still need to fulfill your substance abuse or mental health credit hour? At least once every three annual reporting periods, each lawyer must complete one hour of LEPR devoted exclusively to instruction in substance abuse or mental health issues. The Bar has created programing designed specifically for you–click on a location below to register. Don't be fooled by CLE imitators; if it's not a S.C. Bar CLE, it's not the best.
Ethics, Professionalism, Mental Health Study and Litigation: Myrtle Beach (Dec. 5), Florence (Dec. 6), Anderson (Jan. 29), Greenville (Jan. 30) and Spartanburg (Jan. 31)
Ethics of Social Media and Substance Abuse & Diversity: Columbia (Jan. 11)

Buildable Hours for Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity
The Richland County Bar Association invites you to participate in “Buildable Hours,” a program in conjunction with Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity that provides attorneys, firms and their staff the opportunity to construct a home for a family in need in the Midlands. Through Buildable Hours, attorneys and firms sponsor build days and time through financial contributions and on-site labor. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin May 20, 2013. If you are interested in participating or have any questions, contact George Cauthen at (803) 799-2000 or email@example.com. PMAP–Your guide to …
Evernote. Evernote is a cloud-based program that allows you to easily save and organize your notes, clip articles from the web, and store pictures or PDFs from a computer or mobile device. The basic version of Evernote is free to download, and because it's simple to use and allows you to access your data from anywhere, it can be a great productivity tool for attorneys. Read this article to see how one attorney uses Evernote in his law practice to catalog case law and track travel itineraries and expenses. You may also want to take a look at his second article, Getting Stuff Into Evernote, for an in-depth look at Evernote’s features. PMAP is free practice management advice for Bar members. For more information, call (803) 799-6653, ext. 183 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
