YLD recognized for partnership with Special Olympics
The Bar's Young Lawyers Division was selected to present its work with Special Olympics as part of the ABA Affiliate Showcase. The purpose of the ABA Affiliate Showcase is to spotlight successful service projects for young lawyer leaders from other affiliates to get ideas for service projects to take home and implement. Congratulations to Will Johnson for starting this effort, and many thanks to the volunteers who continue to make it successful.

Bar magazine, website recognized
The South Carolina Bar has been recognized by the South Carolina Society for Association Executives with the Best in the Business Award for the South Carolina Lawyer magazine and an Honorable Mention for the 2011 Bar Convention Website. Congratulations!

UCC filing and document retrieval now available online
A new service offered by the S.C. Secretary of State’s Office allows businesses and citizens to file, search, amend and retrieve UCC documents electronically. The website offers 24/7 access, immediate filing confirmation and quicker UCC Search processing time. Click here to get started.

Interim magistrate designated
Judge R.M. Todd has been designated as Interim Chief Judge for Administrative Purposes of the Summary Courts for Kershaw County. To view the full text of the order, click here.

July 2011 Bar exam laptop usage
The Board of Law Examiners will allow a limited number of applicants to use laptops to complete their answers to the essay sections of the July 2011 Bar exam. One hundred and forty applicants will be randomly selected from those applicants whose completed Request to Participate forms are received no later than Wednesday, June 1.
