2014 Leadership Academy application period open
The Bar is accepting applications for the 2014 Leadership Academy. This sixth installment of the Academy will address the following topics: lawyers in public service, professionalism, career/leadership development, work-life balance, the path to the judiciary, pro bono and community service and service to the Bar. Sessions will take place on the following dates: Jan. 25-26 (Bar Convention–Kiawah), Feb. 27 (Columbia), March 28 (Greenville), April 25 (Charleston) and May 8 (Columbia). The purpose of the Leadership Academy is to enhance the professional growth and leadership skills development of selected members to prepare them to make greater contributions to the legal profession and community. Interested applicants must meet and agree to the stated requirements and submit the required application and supporting documents by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8. S.C. taxpayers affected by the hacking of the Department of Revenue last year can now sign up for another year of free credit monitoring. This year, the state program is being offered by CSIdentity Corp. Coverage is not transferable, so even if you enrolled with Experian last year you must complete the registration process to take advantage of the new protection. S.C. taxpayers and businesses can sign up for the free identity protection coverage online at www.scidprotection.com or by calling (855) 880-2743. Contact SCDOR for registration assistance. Application period open for Rule 608 Civil Contracts
Attorneys interested in contracting with the S.C. Commission on Indigent Defense to provide representation for indigent clients in civil matters (TPR, abuse and neglect, PCR and SVP cases) are invited to submit an application for consideration. This notice only applies to certain designated counties identified on the SCCID website. The link for the application and other important information about the contract program can be found at www.sccid.sc.gov. All applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Nov. 1 to be considered. Questions regarding the application process should be directed to SCCID.
