From the Bar Foundation
We honor the passing of Claude M. Scarborough Jr., a great friend of the S.C. Bar Foundation. The Foundation recalls the many contributions he made, including serving as president, developing the first donor drive and displaying a commitment to pro bono service. He also was awarded the Foundation’s DuRant Distinguished Public Service Award in 1996. In 2000, Mr. Scarborough took some time to be interviewed for the Foundation’s oral history project and spoke of his family’s first Columbia home, dry cleaning business and his legal practice development. Remember Mr. Scarborough today by watching his remarks here.
The USC School of Law is seeking volunteers to judge its annual Mock Trial Competition on Saturday, Sept. 29. The morning session will begin at 9 a.m., and the afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m. Each judge will observe a mock trial and score the participants based on their opening statements, closing arguments and overall style. The scores will determine who will advance in the competition and ultimately who will make the team. For more information or to volunteer, contact Stephanie Helling at email@example.com.
