Public hearings for judicial candidates
Public hearings have been scheduled to begin Monday, Nov. 12, regarding the qualifications of the candidates for Family Court, 8th Circuit, Seat 3, listed in this media release. Persons desiring to testify shall furnish written notarized statements of proposed testimony. These statements must be received by Tuesday, Oct. 30, at noon. Statements should be mailed or delivered to the Judicial Merit Selection Commission as follows: Jane O. Shuler, Chief Counsel, 104 Gressette Bldg., P.O. Box 142, Columbia, SC 29202.

LAMP needs your help!
The Legal Assistance to Military Personnel (LAMP) program is designed to provide assistance to active duty military personnel and, in some instances, their dependents. Attorneys are needed who practice in the areas of wills/trusts, powers of attorney, landlord/tenant, family, employment, probate, guardianship/adoption, military and consumer law. The LAMP program offers pro bono services for service members at the rank of E-3 and below. Nominations sought for Compleat Lawyer Awards
Nominations are being accepted for the 2013 Compleat Lawyer Awards. Established in 1992 by the USC School of Law, the awards recognize up to nine outstanding alumni who have made significant contributions to the legal profession and exemplify the highest standard of professional competence, ethics and integrity.
