An inside look
into mentoring within a law practice and the structure of most law firms
Pilot Mentoring Program: In 2007, the S.C. Supreme Court adopted a pilot mentoring program for a select group of new Bar members. The program was designed to assist new lawyers with the transition into the practice of law, help them develop ethical practices and provide guidance as to the development of healthy relationships with colleagues, clients and the courts. The Bar conducted an evaluation of the 55 mentors and mentees who participated in the program, which concluded on December 31, 2007. The Chief Justice’s Commission on the Profession is expected to recommend a second pilot program and the parameters thereof.
