The SC Budget and Control Board, Office of General Counsel, is currently recruiting for an attorney. The incumbent will assist Division of State Information Technology (DSIT) with the legal aspects of drafting, negotiating, interpreting and administering contracts and other documents. Provide legal support for DSIT's programs and staff. Provide Budget and Control Board's Executive staff with legal advice and support relating to information technology and telecommunications. Represent DSIT in administrative and judicial forums as needed. The successful candidate must have a Juris Doctorate degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school and be admitted to the South Carolina Bar. Must have at least two (2) years’ experience as a practicing attorney. Significant experience as a practicing attorney with an emphasis in the areas of computer law, software licensing and related transactions. Technical background in information technology. Ability to advise and communicate effectively with employees at all levels, as well as external customers and vendors. Strong academic credentials are preferred. Ability to write in a clear, concise manner. Under limited supervision, attorney will be responsible for legal needs of major division of the Budget and Control Board. Duties involve management support, program support, complex transaction work involving technology and communication projects, including some related litigation and regulatory work. Works with a high degree of independence. This position requires a positive, outgoing person with self-motivation, initiative and competence to make independent decisions and provide counsel on complex legal issues.
