About the Course
This seminar qualifies for 1.5 MCLE credit hour, including the SLED 8.0 CWP required hours.

This program will provide the required training for the issuance of a South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit. This course will teach the applicant the basics of the safe handling of firearms (revolvers and semi-autos) and the laws of concealed weapons carry and the use of deadly force. After class room instruction and a review, the applicant will demonstrate the ability to fire his or her firearm, in a safe manner and qualify to a course of timed firing with their firearm. The applicant will receive instruction on the proper procedures, places to carry his or her weapon in accordance with the cwp laws. The applicant will take a written test provided by SLED to show knowledge of the subjects.
 
 
EQUIPMENT NEEDED BY EACH PARTICIPANT:
 
>A safe legal hand gun. No black powder, ball and cap or flintlock only modern firearms. 
Note: gun rental is provided if needed
> Minimum of fifty rounds of ammunition is required for the firearms qualification. Note: ammunition will be for sale at the range if needed
>Hip side holster with belt
(no shoulder holsters, no small of the back holsters or ankle holsters)
>Eye and ear protection  
Note: eye and ear protection will be provided to those who do not have their own
 
All other equipment, targets, SLED CWP applications and finger print cards will be provided
Self-addressed envelopes to SLED and certificates of completion of training will be provided at the end of the class
 
 
 
AGENDA
 
8:30 am     Complete SLED application forms, fingerprint cards and record of training (all forms provided)
Note: on site finger printing will be on-going all day
 
9 am           Firearms Safety
History of fire arms (hand guns), discussion on different types of hand guns (revolver, semi- auto)
 
10am          Fire arms malfunctions, ammunition and malfunctions of ammunition
 
10:30 am    Firearms cleaning, holsters, self-defense weapon retention
 
11 am         Principles of shooting (combat verses bulls eye)
 
12 pm         Working lunch
 
12:30 pm   Discussion of South Carolina laws of self defense and
laws for the carry of a concealed firearm(s)
 
1:30 pm     Written test
 
3 pm          Test grading and review
 
3:30 pm     Practical shooting test
 
4:30 pm     Review and issuance of certificates
 
5pm            Adjourn
