About the Seminar
This program qualifies for 1.0 MCLE credit hour.
What’s the fastest growing sport in America? Believe it or not, it’s flat-track Roller Derby, and the S.C. Bar CLE Division is giving you the chance to experience this exciting sport, as well as get a fabulous hour of CLE taught by USC Law Professor Joel Samuels, AKA “Sonny Pro Bono,” the coach of the Columbia QuadSquad Roller Derby All-Stars! Professor Samuels will provide an entertaining and practical look at recent developments in civil procedure, both at the federal and state levels. He will also introduce you to the rules of roller derby and draw parallels between the seemingly disparate rules of the game of flat-track roller derby and the rules of civil procedure.
Our own Columbia QuadSquad has just completed its second straight undefeated and state championship season and features several skaters who have strong ties to the S.C. legal community! Come join your colleagues on Sunday, January 29, at the Jamil Temple off I-26 for a unique CLE program followed by the QuadSquad’s bout with the Dominion Roller Girl All-Stars of Virginia Beach, Virginia! Every registrant to this special program gets a ticket to the bout and a Columbia QuadSquad T-shirt! Roller Derby is a family sport, so bring your kids (children 10 and
under get in free!).
