Make plans to attend the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association Conference, Taking Care of Business and Looking at the Business Side of Law on Friday, March 18.
Festivities begin Thursday evening, March 17, at 6 p.m. with the Awards Reception at the South Carolina Museum, Mezzanine (301 Gervais St., Columbia 29201). This reception is complimentary for all SCWLA Members.
This year’s conference will focus on the business side of practicing law. Featuring a keynote address from Susan Sneider, this is an exciting half-day CLE addressing vital concerns and how to equip yourself for the business side of the law.
Susan Sneider, a former General Counsel and law firm executive, is an internationally recognized consultant in the legal and financial services industries. The well-known author of the ABA best seller, A
Lawyer’s Guide to Networking, is also one of the authors of the seminal West/ACC 4-Volume Treatise, Partnering Between Inside and Outside Counsel. Ms. Sneider founded and manages New Vistas Consulting. Her clients include Fortune 500 companies, AmLaw100 firms, top-tier U.K. and Canadian law firms, government agencies, trade associations, not-for-profit organizations, law schools and legal vendors. She coaches and consults CEOs, general counsel, managing partners, executive directors, marketing & business development professionals and deans. For over 20 years, Ms. Sneider has presented domestically for the ABA, ACC, TMA, NAWL and ALA. Internationally, she has presented at conferences throughout Europe and conducted programs for LawWithoutWalls in Dublin and Madrid where she also serves as the teaming coach. Ms. Sneider will speak to SCWLA members about the importance of emotional intelligence.
Alice Paylor, Amy Geddes, Mike Ethridge and Marie-Louise Ramsdale will also present a panel discussion on how the rise of alternative work schedules can help take care of your business when you cannot be at the office during traditional hours.
SCWLA’s own Jennifer Howe and Miles Coleman of Nelson Mullins will provide insight on how you can help prepare and plan for your business when the unexpected happens. Their perspectives will inspire you and provide guidance for business planning.
The day will conclude with an exciting panel discussion on marketing yourself and your business with David Haskins of Haskins, P.R. and Lisa Hostetler of LawyerLisa, LLC. These topics and outstanding speakers await you at the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association Conference this year!
