About the Seminar
Join the SC Bar-CLE Division on Friday, November 8 at the Charleston Music Hall for the 2013 Entertainment and Sports Law Symposium! This year’s speaker line-up is one you don’t want to miss! You will hear from top lawyers and representatives in the music, film and TV industry.
The morning will start with an ethics presentation followed by music publishing terms and deal points. Dina LaPolt and Len Glickman will then explore the value of the artist as a brand, branding strategies, non-conventional digital and brick and mortar revenue sources, legacy artist initiatives and the general licensing terms and deal structures that apply.
In light of the huge success of "Duck Dynasty", producers are scouring the country for the next unique family to profile and follow with their cameras. As an attorney, what do you do if a producing client comes to you with the next great reality show, set right here in South Carolina? Attorney Stuart Carroll walks us through the legal steps in a hypothetical producer's reality dream come true.
The day will conclude with a presentation from Greenville native David Wyatt for an update and trends in the sports law arena.
You will also have a chance to hear about the history of the Charleston Music Hall and the legal battles fought to bring it where it is today. During lunch and breaks, you will have an opportunity to tour and check out backstage!
Special thanks to Shawna Hilleary Berden, Joe Good and Will Lewis for recruiting this wonderful panel of speakers and their hard work toward this program!
