About the program

The 2013 NC/SC Labor & Employment Law Program will feature many cutting edge and practical topics and speakers. This advanced level program highlights topics such as “Employee Classification Issues,” “Complex Damages Issues in Employment Litigation,” “ACA/Whistleblower and Retaliation Claims- An Employers’ Worst Nightmare,” as well timely and relevant guidance on new enforcement priorities and case law updates.
We will have an entertaining presentation to satisfy our annual ethics CLE requirements “Center of the Storm: Ethics from the Duke Lacrosse Case.” We will also hear from Jim Blackburn about a compelling personal story to satisfy our annual CLE requirement for substance abuse training.
We will also offer a new panel this year from our younger lawyers, “The Next Generation: Perspectives of the Young Lawyer: Practical Pointers on Building a Practice, Learning Litigation Techniques and Styles, and Reflections From Our of First Few Years of Practice.”
You will hear from a lawyer involved in the DR Horton decision about Class Action Waivers and Arbitration Agreements.
There will also be presentations on Religious Accommodation, Employment Law and Business Transactions, Trends and Lessons Learned from the New ADA Caselaw, and the EEOC’s Litigation Priorities.
As always, there will be excellent substantive updates from the Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit, the North and South Carolina updates, and an NLRB update, all of which will be brilliantly presented by leading employment law practitioners.
