About the Seminar:
This year, the popular Solo & Small Firm Conference has a new destination: Charleston!
Come join your colleagues on Friday, September 20, at the ONLY conference in South Carolina designed with the solo and small firm lawyer in mind. The theme of this year’s conference is “Making the Most of What You Have!” Work better, not harder, by learning how to capitalize on the products and skills you already have. Our faculty includes fellow small firm lawyers as well as nationally known speakers and technology experts.
The Charleston Marriott on Lockwood Boulevard will be the setting for an ethics breakfast, practice management and technology sessions, and a seated networking lunch. As always, we will have exhibitors on hand to demonstrate the latest products and services just for small firm lawyers. Don’t forget we will have special registration rates for law office staff and law students too.
We welcome veteran ABA TECHSHOW speakers Catherine Sanders Reach and Bruce L. Dorner for the first time to South Carolina. Catherine is a frequent speaker on the use of technology in law firms, and is fresh from speaking at the country’s largest solo and small firm conference in Missouri. Catherine works for the Chicago Bar Assoication, helping lawyers in small firms make the most of their technology. A well-known speaker, author, and blogger, her articles have appeared in the Law Practice magazine, Law Technology News and GPSolo Magazine. In 2011, she was selected to be one of the inaugural Fastcase 50, celebrating 50 innovators, techies, visionaries, and leaders in the field of law, and in 2013 was nominated Fellow Elect of the College of Law Practice Management.
Also joining us is Bruce Dorner, an attorney based in Londonderry, New Hampshire. Bruce may describe himself as a “country lawyer,” but he’s being modest. He has lectured and appeared in video presentations on law office automation and management for many state bar associations, the ABA, and for private corporations. His office conducts testing and evaluation of computer software and components for a number of manufacturers and developers. He’s the Adjunct Professor of Law Practice Management at the University of New Hampshire School of Law, and was recognized by the ABA General Practice Division as the Educator of the Year in 2007. The President of the ABA appointed him to an unprecedented second term as a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Solo and Small Firm Practitioners. He co-authored the Circuit Court, a long-running column with Ross Kodner and Dan Coolidge, which appeared in Law Office Computing Magazine.
This program qualifies for 6.0 MCLE credit hours, including up to 2.0 LEPR credit hours and 1.0 SA/MH credit hour.
