About the Seminar
The South Carolina Bar CLE Division is pleased to present a unique opportunity for you to earn 2.0 hours of CLE credit while also obtaining the state-mandated training necessary to obtain you South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit. The CLE portion of the program will focus not only on the SLED requirements for a CWP but will focus upon educating practitioners on the effects in representing a client that has a CWP. The class will include various state laws concerning concealed weapons, firearms purchase, self-defense, transporting of firearms, interacting with law enforcement, laws related to homicide, murder, manslaughter, etc., but will be taught with an eye toward educating practitioners.
The practical portion of the class is for Beginners to Advanced Shooters and includes pistol safety, operation and storage, transportation, ammunition, fundamentals of marksmanship, the laws of South Carolina including self-defense and CWP, range rules, range session with live fire. The cost includes the SLED fees, fingerprinting fees (finger printing will be done in class), range fees, targets, SLED certificates, SLED CWP application preparation and a box lunch.
Get your Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) and 2.0 hours of CLE together.
CLE Credits :
2.0 hrs included in the SLED required 8 CWP hours Definite Defense will do all the paperwork for you and will send it to SLED on your behalf.

8:10 a.m. Registration and Paperwork
8:15 a.m. Legal Definitions of Handguns, Rifles, Pistols, and Legal (and illegal) possession of Firearms, Safety, Handgun (Parts and Operation), and Ammunition
8:45 a.m. Safety (SLED rules, NRA Rules, Storage, Cleaning & Children Warning)
9:15 a.m. Break
9:30 a.m. SC Concealed Weapons and related Laws and
11:30 a.m. Initial Introduction to Marksmanship (also covered at the range) including malfunctions, Range Safety Rules and SLED Proficiency Course
12:00 a.m. Test, Grading and Test Review
12:30 a.m. Class portion end and Box Lunch Provided
In order to complete your CWP training, you will need to also take the range portion of the program. Because of limited range space, when registering, please select your first, second, and third choice for range time. Range times will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
